A Drop a Pin question asks you to locate a feature on an image (or a portion of an image set by your teacher).

To answer the question:

  1. Review the information on the left hand panel which tells you what to locate on the image and any background information.

  2. Navigate the image to locate the feature
Zoom = scrolling with the mouse wheel or use the +/- buttons at the top right corner of the screen
Pan = click and hold the mouse cursor to drag the image up, down, right or left

  3. Click the PIN icon at the top left of the image viewing pane. This will give you a single pin to place on the image.

  4. Click on your chosen position on the image to place the pin as your response. Note - you can move the pin after placing by clicking and dragging it to a new location.

  5. Click the blue "Check my response" button to receive feedback on your answer.

  6. Review the feedback provided.
    a) If your chosen position is correct, the correct region(s) as identified by your teacher will be shown to you on the image along with any other feedback annotations they have chosen to add. Depending on settings you may be able to view the first attempts made by other students who have attempted the question.

    b) If the chosen position is incorrect and you have attempts remaining click Try again. Your pin will be removed. Follow steps 3 to 6 again.

    c) If your chosen position is incorrect but you have no remaining attempts, the correct region(s) as identified by your teacher will be shown to you on the image along with any other feedback annotations they have chosen to add. Review the position of your attempt(s) with the correct regions and feedback.

Your attempts at the question will be saved for you to revisit at a later stage.

Your first attempt may be shown anonymously to other students who are attempting the question.

There is no way to restart the question to receive additional attempts.
