Create an LMS Connection for Canvas

Set up of Slice as an external tool in Canvas is accessible only to members with the Institution Admin and Subscription Owner roles.

  1. Log into account.best.edu.au
  2. Navigate to the Connect LMS tab
  3. If a connection has already been set up it will appear in the list. If you need to create a new Connection click the Add new connection button.
  4. Select your LMS from the List provided
  5. Provide a name for the connection
  6. Click Generate new key

 

Add an App to Canvas

You may need support from your Learning Management team to add the connection as a site wide App. The following steps may differ slightly depending on your instance of Canvas.

  1. Open and log into your institutions Canvas site
  2. Navigate to the settings page of your course, and click "Apps"
  3. Click "View App Configurations"

  4. On the "View App Configurations" page, click the "+ App" button
  5. Provide a name for the tool that will be self-explanatory to your staff (e.g. "Slice", "Slice image bank" or "BEST Network Slice")
  6. Add the Launch URL, Consumer Key and Secret as provided in the Connect LMS area of account.best.edu.au
  7. Set the Privacy to "Public" or "Name Only"
  8. It should look something like this, you might also need to fill "Domain" with the same value as "Launch URL"
  9. Click "Save Changes" and the LTI tool is set up.
